Who is the NICAS course for?
NICAS is for anyone wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering, starting from age 7.
The scheme is designed to provide a structured progression from complete novices to experiences indoor climbers.
Learn to climb with NICAS. (National Indoor Climbing Awards Scheme). NICAS is a UK-wide scheme designed to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement on artificial climbing structures.

NICAS is for anyone wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering, starting from age 7.
The scheme is designed to provide a structured progression from complete novices to experiences indoor climbers.
The scheme focuses on skills, knowledge and safety. You will be given a climbing logbook to record everything you learn and complete. The emphasis is on progression rather than graded performance.
The scheme is split into 5 levels which are new climber, foundation climber, technical climber, lead climber and advanced climber.
To develop climbing movement skills and improve levels of ability.
To learn climbing rope work and how to use equipment safely.
To develop teamwork and trust with climbing partners.
To provide a record of personal achievement.
Sessions run term times only and can be blocked booked:
5 weeks: £75
6 weeks: £90
7 weeks: £105
Before joining a NICAS course all climbers will need to complete a NICAS taster session for £15pp.
We offer NICAS sessions for Home Educated children on Tuesdays at 1pm.
