The course is four hours of training in total (2 x two hour sessions over 2 weeks).
For many climbers, transitioning to lead climbing presents an exciting challenge. Mastering lead climbing not only enhances your climbing experience but also unlocks access to a wider range of routes. This is particularly evident on large overhanging walls that are challenging with top-ropes or auto-belays.
It is crucial to learn the proper techniques before venturing into this aspect of climbing. Understanding how to clip, where to clip, how to belay a leader, how to fall safely, and how to manage a fall are all fundamental skills covered in our learn to lead course. Furthermore, you will develop a solid grasp of the forces involved in falling, highlighting the importance of effective belaying to prevent accidents.
The course is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. Week one will cover how to clip and how to lead belay. Week two will cover how to fall and how to catch a falling climber.
The session is £90pp and is a minimum of two people.
