ABOUT SUMMIT UP

Summit Up is a community-focused project initiated by The Stoller Charitable Trust, a charity whose purpose has been to provide opportunities to raise aspirations, support Oldham’s young people to reach the height of their ability and to provide a helping hand when it is most needed.

Summit Up was created to provide high quality sport and recreation facilities in Oldham and to generate a revenue stream to support The Stoller Charitable Trust. All the distributable profits will go to supporting local Oldham charities such as Mahdlo Youth Zone, Maggie’s Oldham and Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. The Centre is a legacy for the future generations coming through the Oldham community.

The Centre

The purpose-built centre aims to provide a fun and safe space for the whole family to experience something new and push their limits in an exciting new leisure facility.

Summit Up provides a leisure experience for all age groups and abilities ranging from toddlers to serious climbers.

The Team

Each and every member of the team at Summit Up is passionate about providing a great experience.

Whether that's a great cup of coffee, an unforgettable birthday party or coaching someone up the lead climbing wall for the first time we will always strive to deliver something more.

Clip 'n Climb

Summit Up is home to the largest Clip ‘n Climb in the North West. Designed by Entre-prises UK – the sole supplier of climbing walls for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics – the unique Clip ‘n Climb concept is on offer at several outdoor activity centres across the globe.

Clip ‘n Climb Oldham features 35 challenges, including the adrenaline-pumping ‘Leap of Faith’, the popular ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and a thrilling 10-metre ‘Vertical Drop Slide’.

Traditional Climbing

Summit Up features a wide variety of climbing walls, angles and holds, with over 100 climbing routes spread across 47 rope lines, two official speed walls with timers and a unique two-tier floating boulder. Summit Up is the only centre in Greater Manchester with an official speed climbing facility.

Summit Up is accessible for all the family – from complete novices, right through to seasoned climbers. It is also fully accessible for disabled families and climbers.

Our Story

Summit Up, opened in September 2021, has being created with community in mind. We want to create a space where everyone can feel safe to push their limits, try something new, bring the family and most importantly, have fun.

Whilst we are a “for-profit” business, Summit Up is the trading subsidiary of The Stoller Charitable Trust, whose purpose has been to provide opportunities to raise aspirations, support Oldham’s young people to reach the height of their ability and to provide a helping hand when it is most needed.

All of Summit Up’s profits will go directly to supporting charity. Our motivation in creating Summit Up Climbing Centre was to leave a lasting legacy for the next generation of the Oldham community. We strive for excellence and will feel proud if we succeed in creating an accessible and inclusive experience for all the family, from complete novices through seasoned climbers and even those just looking to try something new.

We want to create a space that inspires and motivates all ages to be active and ambitious. It is our hope that Summit Up will connect the community and create a lasting social venue in Oldham, “the Centre of the Universe” , the town that enabled our former Seton (later SSL International) family of employees to develop and prosper.
