Rock Climbing Instructor Training

This qualification is all about taking people climbing and abseiling on single pitch crags and artificial structures.

Whether you’re a parent, a volunteer or an outdoor centre instructor, the Rock Climbing Instructor qualification trains and assesses experienced rock climbers to instruct climbing.

Prior to the training you should have experience of climbing outdoors on real rock including leading on leader placed protection and meet the minimum experience criteria set by mountain training and have registered with them for the RCI scheme. If you already hold the Climbing Wall Instructor award you will only need to do the 2 day course if not you will need to do the full 3 day course which includes one day at the wall.

Following which candidates undertake a consolidation period and must log further experience climbing and assisting with groups on real rock.
